"Gnome Run"
What do you think of Jordan Sonnenblick using humor to tell a story about a teenager who is mad at his parents and makes a conscious decision to break the law and drink and drive?

I think that Jordan Sonneblick is using a reasonable form of expressing this teens anger, as divorce and re-dating is always hard for kids, and this sort of reaction to a father re dating (especially a former teacher) could even possibly happen.
Jordan Sonnenblick use humor in a very serious problem. But using humor relates to our age group. So I think using humor in a serious problem is ok when used in our age group.
I think Jordan Sonneblick is using an appropriate form of expression. If I was seperated between my parents who had been divorced I would need an outlet also.Alex just chose a more dangeruos(and scary)form of expressing his feelings.
In my opinion i think that Jordan Sonnenblick is quite creative in using humor to explain a tradegy. Alex getting drunk and getting in a car crash would have been a real atonement in the book but instead he used a comedy to help the reader understand his point in the reading. My hats off to him.
i think that Jordan Sonnenblick uses humor to tell a story about alex because drinking and driving is not a funny thing. I think he uses humor to explain the significants of teens drinking and driving and how dangerous it is. Another reason he uses humor to tell the story of alex is because devorce is a horrible thing to go through, and it puts so much stress on the kid(s) so i think that he uses humor to cheer a bad situation up and re-dateing is hard too... getting to know a new person that could possibly be your new step mom or dad. That is really hard to go through in a teens life.
Yes because its a fact of life and the auther is just trying to reach out to the reader with everyday problems.so shes trying to show us using humor that drinking and driving under age has serious consequences.
I think Jordan Sonneblick makes the character Alex anger reasonble, as his parents divored his father re-dates his formal third grade teacher and Jorden Sonneblick shows his feelings and reactions to his dad.
I think the author uses humor to tell this story because drinking and driving is not a funny thing, describing this teenagers experiences to us through humor may show us the seriousness of the situations.
